Fair pricing – one size does NOT fit all
The cost of a Simple Server depends on your specific needs. We don’t offer “good, better, best” options. All servers set up by us are equally reliable, and offer the exact same features.
Pricing depends solely on how much configuration is required for your scenario. See the table below for pricing.
If you would like to have off-site backup, we can help with that as well. There are some prerequisites and restrictions we need to talk about.
We don’t charge on-going monthly fees, simply because we believe that a Simple Server “just works” and doesn’t require a maintenance agreement. It will be much cheaper to have us take care of any issues or configuration changes as they arise.
Simple Server cost vs Windows Server cost
A question we get asked regularly is “Why does a Simple Server implementation cost approximately 80% to 85% less than a Windows Server?”
First – it’s true. For example, a Dell T360 Server with Windows Server Essentials, – hardware only, not configured to your specific needs yet – is approximately $10,500.00, if fitted with the same capacity as a Simple Server. Once configured, that Dell server cost will be closer to $14,000.00. Clearly, we must acknowledge that a Dell Enterprise Server has hardware components that – on paper at least – outperform the hardware of a new PC. However, we have yet to see a Simple Server fail.
The two main reasons is that the software itself is free. Based on Linux, the reliability of a Simple Server is extremely high. The Internet as we know it wouldn’t exist without Linux servers. And the hardware used for a Simple Server is based on new desktop components, which is around $1,500.00 if we supply it.
Another important reason is our pricing structure. We don’t believe in charging you for a 25 user setup, if you have less staff. Likewise, if you need less Group Shares, we charge less. An example:
Your office has nine staff, including yourself. Each staff member has a PC. Let’s say you have one person doing AR/AP, one Sales Manager, a Receptionist, four Sales Staff, an Office Manager/HR, and then yourself, Manager/Owner.
With a Simple Server, everyone gets their own private User Share, where the Desktop and Documents folders are automatically stored. Then, you need an Admin Group Share, a Sales Group Share, and a Management Group Share. (It doesn’t matter who you want to assign to what group – this is just for illustration purposes) The configuration and implementation cost for this scenario is $600.00. If we were to supply the brand-new hardware to build the PC, your total cost of an up-and-running Simple Server will be around $2,000.00 *
